Beauty comes in all different shapes and sizes, and everyone has a different opinion on the word ‘beauty’. But everybody loves how the right makeup and a good beauty routine can make you feel. Here are my picks for the best beauty buys this spring, and how to use them: Firstly, I like to start my routine in a nice surrounding, so set a beautiful atmosphere by burning an Archipelago Peony scented candle.

You need to start with a clean palette, so wash your face with a wash to suit your skin type. I always like to use a toner, the Biore triple action toner cleans, tightens and clears, and it’s an essential for achieving a clear complexion. Next use a primer, my favourite is the Innoxa pure silk skin primer, this fills in pores to create a smooth base for makeup application. If you prefer a lower coverage look, the Too Faced Beauty Balm is the best BB cream I have tried so far, and I have tried almost everything! This creates a tint to cover most blemishes without looking cakey. If you’re looking for a foundation, you cant go past the L’Oreal True Match foundation, it’s a light weight, non cakey foundation but somehow gives a full coverage look that everyone wants at some point, the best foundation I have tried by far and best of all, it’s cheap and better than most high end foundations. If you want to cover even more, the Too Faced Absolutely Flawless concealer perfectly matches the L’Oreal foundation; it covers pretty much everything you can imagine for, as the name suggests, absolutely flawless skin. To blend in all of this liquid on the face, the ultimate beauty buy of them all is a Beauty Blender, the pink sponge will work wonders for an airbrushed look and will also sop up any extra makeup of liquid on the face and blend everything together. Contouring is the secret weapon everyone has to master; if you haven’t tried this before, get onto Youtube to learn an easy routine and you’ll never go back. I love to use the Thin Lizzy bronzer, its buildable and great for contouring all around the face. Once your base is finished, don’t forget to set it with some Face of Australian Translucent Setting Powder, its cheap, plentiful and amazing for making your makeup last all day and night, especially if you have more oily skin like me. Next is eyes, don’t under estimate the power of the eyebrow, its best to get these shaped, and if need be, tinted, to really change you’re face and make an amazing difference, after this you can use the L’Oreal Super Liner (Brow Artist).

For a natural eye look, I don’t go past the Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette, its all you need for a basic nude eye shadow look and is always buildable. Now, almost as important as the makeup is the brushes you use to apply it. If you currently use your hands, STOP NOW, and go out and buy some Real Techniques Makeup Brushes – you wont regret it. Use them to apply foundation, concealer, bronzer, powder and eye shadow.

The mascara I have been using at the moment only just hit the Australian stores, it’s the Victoria’s Secret Lash Lust Mascara, and the different parts to the brush always for a perfect buildable lash look for any occasion. To finish the whole look off, apply some Coconut Pearls Luminizing Lip Quench from Pacifica and apply some Pacifica California Star Jasmine Spray on perfume.
